Need a replacement for your IPod Screen?

If you have an IPod whose screen had turned cob webbed, then you definitely need a replacement to the screen. If you consider the warranty that your IPod carries, it would be of no use to you in this case. Apple considers broken screens as physical damages; and such damages are not covered under warranty. Apple also states that in such situations, the IPod screen will not be repaired at its repair center.
This would leave you with only two options for your IPod screen replacement issue. These two options are: doing it yourself and taking up IPod repair services. You can choose either of them depending upon how comfortable you are with either of the options. You must first know about both of them in details.
Do it yourself
The broken screen of the IPod can be replaced at home if you think you are comfortable doing it. The first and the foremost thing you would require are tools to open up your IPod. You can get yourself an IPod service kit that consists of all the tools you would need. This is in addition to the new screen you will have to buy. When you open the IPod, make sure that you are very careful to not damage other parts of the IPod. If there are any damaged parts, then you will have to order them too. After opening the IPod, you need to carefully pull the screen apart from the logic board and replace it with the new one.
IPod Repair Specialists
If the idea of opening up your IPod and changing the screen yourself does not seem to be your cup of tea to you, then you can definitely choose the second option, i.e. a repair center. He would be charging you a fair amount for the repair unlike of what Apple would be asking for. The charges are generally limited to the cost of the screen or maybe just a bit more. An added advantage of getting the repair done through a specialist is that he would also make sure that the damage is not limited to the screen. If there are other parts or areas that are affected due to the damage, then he would take care of them too. He would make sure that you receive the IPod back in a working condition. He would not charge you extra to get it in working conditions unless some other part needs replacement as well. This might not have been possible to discover if you did the replacement yourself.
Another misconception that follows an IPod repair is that it takes 5 to 8 weeks to get it repaired, which is true, if sent to Apple repair center. The process is not that long. It takes lesser time than what is assumed. To look for an IPod screen replacement specialist, you can search online for various companies that provide the service. A company that is closer to you would always be better as it would reduce the time it would take for the IPod to be carried from your place to the center and then back.
